Home > Frequently Asked Questions How are VOGELSANG tension bushings used? VOGELSANG bushings are primarily used in bearing applications that are subject to wear and inhospitable environments. The bushings can prevent much of the abrasive, and eventual ruinous, effect of metal-to-metal contact between components. These bushings do not require lubrication and are well suited for use in high-load/low speed operation in articulating or continuos applications. The combination of raw material, heat treatment, and design make the bushing an excellent bearing for use where there is little or no lubrication, lots of wear, and a desire to protect a housing bore in a more expensive piece of capital. Also, bushings are sometimes used as spacers and large diameter pin fasteners.
